Taylor Swift has been embroiled in a sexual harassment claim she first made several years ago after attending a meet-and-greet with a radio DJ who she claims groped her while they posed for a picture. Initially, the DJ attempted to sue Swift, claiming that she and her team got him fired from his job and ruined his reputation. Swift countersued, arguing that the radio station terminated Mueller after its own independent investigation.
CNN reports Doug Baldridge, Swift’s attorney, told the jury of two men and six women: “He wants you to give him a payday. His motivation is money, calling attention to himself, and getting revenge on his boss.”
Today, Swift’s bodyguard took the stand and USA Today reports that he could see the front and back of the pop star. “His hand went under her skirt,” Greg Dent, her bodyguard, told the jury. “I thought it was a violation of her body.”
Dent’s testimony was followed by Ryan Kliesch, a longtime pal of Mueller’s, who said he never saw him behave inappropriately with a woman. There are more witnesses set to take the stand, but the highlight of the trial will end up being Swift’s own statements.
We detailed the first two days of the Taylor Swift sexual assault trial in the usual manner, a write up with some additional commentary. However, when we sat down to sum up the third day, in which Swift finally took the witness stand, we were fascinated with the courtroom sketches that had been released. This inspired us to take a more creative approach to our recap and so we tried something different. We hope you enjoy our illustrated recap.
