What is the #1 reason you don’t work out? We make the excuse that we don’t feel like going to the gym. After work, commuting, and dinner with family and loved ones, going to the gym can literally feel like a chore. Then we realized, we don’t have to go anywhere to get a little fitness. We found 4 easy and quick workout moves that can be done anywhere. Best of all – weights are optional!
This one should be a no-brainer, especially since it’s everyone’s go-to move for building our behinds. Did you know squats can actually help to improve upper body strength and posture? Just two more reasons we should get to squatting! While some moves can be done relatively discreetly in public, squats aren’t one of them. So if you’re throwing down some squats on your morning train ride, kudos to you girl, but we have found squatting while watching television is a better use of our downtime. You can even do squats while cooking and cleaning! Add a jar of pickles or a jug of water for “weights” or tie an old pair of leggings around your legs for resistance bands.
We love this move because it keeps our legs strong and shapely. All you have to do is stand straight up with feet hip-width apart. Lift your leg backward as high as it can go and hold it for a second, then repeat on the same leg 8-12 times. Then complete on the other leg.
This move is great for creating full body tension, lower back strength, and on top of that, we’re only using our body weight. We try to do this while standing at our desks. But don’t stop there! The bus stop, the coffee shop, there are no limits to the places you can execute this move. Reduce the height you’re raising your leg and instead hold your leg up for as long as possible for a slightly less obvious move.
Pretty sure we’ve all done this with a hula hoop at some point. Why did we ever grow out of that? This exercise is super simple and works 3 arm muscles for toned and sexy feminine arms. Simply stand straight and bring an arm straight out to one side, then move the entire arm in a small, fast circle. Repeat on the other arm as many times as you can. Feel free to add a hoop, weighted ball or baton to make this more challenging. We like to do this move while brushing our teeth, brushing our hair or during a mask session. Where could you see yourself doing this move?
One thing that most of us forget about is toning the muscles in our faces. This exercise focuses on reducing the loss of elasticity around the eye area. Simply make a peace sign on each hand and line up your fingers on either end of your brows, pressing middle fingers together just between the brows. Using light pressure on the index fingers, look upward and squint, then relax the eyes. Repeat 5-10 times for a toned under eye area that keeps the crow’s feet away. This can be done at your desk, while watching TV, in bed or even in the shower.
Now, try to think of at least 2 places you can do one of these moves and incorporate them into your daily routine. Now, when someone asks the last time we’ve worked out, we can tell the truth instead of changing the subject.
